So lucky!!

I think i'm having some good luck recently.. which is really great!! On wednesday, i passed my driving final theory test.. On thursday, i struck Toto!! 4.5 nos... Slightly more than $1K of winnings!! I'm so excited about it!!! lalalalalala..

Claimed my prize money today and gave mum and my younger sis $50 each.. So nice hor? hehe.. Plan to buy something for simon to commemorate the happy 'struck toto' event, but he kept declining my offer.. =p He used to buy something for me whenever he struck 4D or something in the past.. I was never shy to tell him what i wanted lor.. =p It's funny that he's so formal and polite with me now.. Even when i treated him to dinner at Crystal Jade just now, he tried to pick the cheaper dishes.. *rollls eyes* Hey sg, dun have to stand on ceremony with me.. It's not like i'll win money all the time.. ;) i wan to share my happiness with the ppl i love.. hehe..

Hmm, i haven't been going shopping and buying things for very long.. Itching for some retail therapy.. I want to buy lots of clothes and a pair of heels!! Anyone interested to go shopping with me next week, pls tell me.. hehe..

Haven't been visiting the gym often in the past week.. partly cos of the rainy weather, partly cos i've been feeling lazy and tired to work out.. I feel sleepy and tired all the time these days.. =( So, the result of not visiting the gym is: I FEEL FAT!! I'm sure everyone will dismiss how i feel as being crazy again.. haha.. but, which woman will be satisfied with her shape? I'm just in this "unhappy with my appearance" mode these few days.. I wish i can transform my arms, waist, butt, thighs and legs.. =p Can i wake up tmr feeling slimmer and prettier?

Went to the library on fri and read up on fitness stuff.. learnt more abt weights training and the proper use of the machines in the gym from the guidebook for dummies.. Very interesting.. And, i borrowed a book "The Fat Flush Fitness Plan".. Shall try to get some motivation from the book and hopefully, flush the fats down the toilet bowl.. ;)

Went for an interview for the position of a part-time clinic assistant at AMK central on fri.. The doc is looking for someone to help out in the morning, which i can't do when school starts... He asked me to let him know my available timings, so that he can contact me if he needs help at night or something.. He offered $7-8 per hour, subject to increment with seniority.. I dun mind earning extra $$ working as a clinic assistant on a few nights leh.. at least put my limited Pharmacy knowledge to practice.. And, it'll be a gd alternative to earn $$ other than giving tuition..

Earning $$ is gd! It feels great to be richer day by day.. =)

Met up with Selena for dinner and supper today.. Had a gd time catching up, gossiping abt ppl, sharing our dreams and goals, etc.. =) Heard abt her tarot card reading experience which included a rather detailed prediction of her future.. Hmm it appeared quite accurate for her friend.. interesting! I'm tempted to try, but i'm scared.. It seems eerie! It seems like tarot card reading gives a lot of details, not just a general overview.. Imagine hearing a bad prediction, and living in constant fear wondering if the prediction would come true.. Or, imagine you're told that your current partner is not the one for you, should you believe it and dump your partner? I dun think i can take the results with a pinch of salt and carry on with my life unaffected.. So, i better dun try it.. =p I think fortune telling is something very mysterious.. I'll just let my life tell me my future..

Amazingly, i struck 4D again today!!! 1271.. Another $250!! Happy happy.. ;)

Today..

Hmm, i saw something very disturbing when i took the MRT train today. A couple with two young daughters boarded the train at Sembawang and sat down opposite me. The elder daughter, who was wearing a skirt, sat with her legs wide open.. and to my shock, she wasn't wearing anything under her skirt!!! No panty or anything, just her exposed private part under her skirt!! It was a disturbing sight and i hesitated about where i should fix my eyes on. The next moment, i realised that everyone sitting in my row tried to look away from the girl.. Everyone looked to the right.. haha.. but i was glad that there were only females in my entire row.. =p I couldn't help but wondered if the mum and her other daughter were wearing their underwears.. Maybe the mum wasn't wearing anything under her dress too as she didn't know there is a need to wear a panty???!! I wonder what the mum was thinking. *shakes head*

Simon and i then went to FarmMart at CCK.. The prawn fishing pond was closed.. We didn't see anyone succeed in catching anything from the fish ponds.. There were a few goats, rabbits and turtles at the animal farm.. It was quite a boring and small place and we finished touring it in 25 min, just in time to catch the next shuttle bus..

At night, we went for a BBQ at Sembawang Park. 2 persons going for a BBQ at 11 pm.. We thought we were quite boliao too.. haha.. but i enjoyed it very much.. ;)

I'm not working anymore! =)

I quit my promoter job after one day of work on Monday.

The job was just unbearable! Long hours of standing with so few customers.. One minute really felt like ten hours.. I was so bored! No job satisfaction.. And, i had to wear covered shoes for work. My pointed heels had caused so many blisters and bruises on my feet and toes in just a day.. During lunchtime, i felt that my toes were wet.. I took off my shoes to find my toes covered with BLOOD!! Felt so sorry for myself.. =( At the end of the day, I was really so shagged! Worked till 8 pm, and still had to rush home for tuition at 8.30 pm..

I tried not to complain when i came home.. but somehow, i guess Mum sensed that i had a hard time, so she told me to quit if the job was tough.. ;) After listening to Mum and both my sisters dissuade me from continuing to work, i was shaken.. haha.. After just that one hard day of work, i really cannot imagine myself working fr 10.30 am to 8.30 pm for 14 consecutive days.. Can't go shopping, can't meet up with friends, can't spend time with simon, can't go to the gym, can't give tuition.. Gotta give up so many things in exchange for a meagre pay.. I wasn't hard up for money, so i decided not to torture myself and my poor feet further.. Think if i continued to work, i'll suffer from some mental breakdown or depression.. =(

So, I QUIT!!! =p

Anyway, early in the morning on my first day at work, I met a super irritating and rude receptionist in the office. TMD!! I can't help but have to say she was really fucked up! She was very well-dressed and well-groomed for a receptionist and looked rich.. And, she was telling some other staff that she spent lots of $$ buying stuff with her credit card.. Some ya-ya-papaya again.. HMMPH!!

I really thought that her shitty attitude sucks and i was so pissed off with her! So, i decided to lodge a complaint against her!

I narrated the whole incident in my long complaint letter to John Little. If you have the patience to finish reading the letter, here's it:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Complaint against receptionist at John Little Specialists' Centre

I worked as a XXX promoter for my company, XXX S'pore Pte Ltd, on 11/7/2005 at John Little Specialists' Centre and had a nasty experience with your receptionist at the office on level 5. I do not know the name of that particular receptionist, but she was a well-dressed and well-groomed Chinese lady working at the counter at 10 a.m on 11/7/2005.

When I reported for work at 9.45 a.m, my supervisor from XXX S'pore Pte Ltd passed me a "Promoter Register" form and told me to go to level 5 to get a security pass. I went up to the office, showed the form to the receptionist at the counter and enquired if i should get my pass there.

Below is my nasty experience with your receptionist:

Me: Hi, can I check with you if I should submit this form here to get my pass?
Receptionist: Yes, but you haven't filled up the form yet! How to get the pass?
(I was just checking if I was at the right place. Of course, I know I must fill up the form. Did she have to be so rude?)

I filled up the part on the employee's declaration, signed and passed it to her.

Receptionist: You didn't fill up this part! (pointing to the company's declaration part) You cannot get your pass if the form is incomplete! Anyway, you have to wait for the security guard to come!

I sat down, filled up the company's declaration part for my company and waited for the security guard to come.

Receptionist: Finished filling up the form or not?!
Me: Yes.
Receptionist: Finished filling up, still sit there for what? Don't know how to open your mouth and say ah?
(She told me earlier that I had to wait for the security guard to come. How would I know I had to inform her again?)

She then paged for the security guard. When the much more approachable security guard came, he looked through the form, made a photocopy of my NRIC and told me to use my NRIC to exchange for a promoter tag with the receptionist and fill up a record book.

Receptionist: (seeing that I left the "Dept", "Tie" and "Tag" columns blank) Fill in 0 tie, 1 tag! And your department!!
Me: I'm not sure what department I'm in. I'm a promoter for XXX haircare products. What department is that?
Receptionist: You don't know what department you're in?! and you expect me to know?!! How do I know?!

Another John Little staff, who was signing in, heard our conversation and told me my department was "Toiletries".
(Thanks to her, otherwise I would still be receiving more shit from the receptionist. Isn't it understandable that a new promoter on her FIRST day of work would be unsure and unfamiliar with the way things operate? Would it hurt for her to show a little more patience and courtesy to help?)

When I was leaving after getting my tag, the receptionist called me back.

Receptionist: HEY!! Cannot bring your bag down lah! Read the rules and regulations! Didn't you read?!!
Me: Sorry, so where can I leave my stuff?
Receptionist: (after 20 seconds) There are lockers behind!! Leave your bag there!

My encounter with your receptionist really ruined my day. I wonder where her basic courtesy is. Giving her the benefit of the doubt, she may be courteous and service-oriented to customers and visitors. However, her hostile and unhelpful attitude towards me (a new staff) left me with a very bad impression. I got the impression that she thought very little of me and found it a waste of her time and effort to assist me since I was just a young, lowly temporary promoter at John Little. I think it's pretty normal for a new staff to be unfamiliar and lost on the first day. I really wonder why your receptionist was so impatient and rude to provide assistance. I think it is her responsibility to attend to enquiries politely and to the best she could, not only just to customers, important visitors and staff of higher authority, but to everyone regardless of rank. Being an undergraduate, I've taken up different kinds of jobs at various companies during university vacation breaks. However, I've never encountered hostility such as that I got from your receptionist.

She might think that I was unimportant since I was just a promoter, and not a customer. However, now that I'm no longer working with your company, I can be a potential customer. I've patronised John Little many times before too. I hope your company do not only value your customers, but all your staff regardless of rank. Even a lowly temporary promoter deserves to be valued and treated with courtesy. I'm really disappointed with your receptionist's attitude. My bad experience would probably deter me from visiting John Little Specialists' Centre again.

I hope you'll look into the matter and give me a reply soon. Should you require any clarifications, please feel free to contact me at 9XXXXXXX. Thank you.

Yours sincerely,
Grace Tan

So, in the end, I received an apology for my unpleasant experience and a reply saying that they would not condone such behaviour under any circumstance and would conduct an investigation with the staff concerned.. Nevertheless, i'm not appeased in any way.. Ppl who are rude, arrogant and look down on others should be SHOT!! I wonder what the stupid receptionist was thinking.. She must have thought that a promoter was lowly, but i can't see how much higher class she was, being a receptionist.. What's there to be arrogant about?

So many unhappy things happened in just one day of work.. I told simon that working is terrible cos one has to suffer everything and meet unreasonable ppl, i dun wanna work anymore, i've decided that i wanna be a tai-tai, i'll let him support me next time.. i"m sick of the dark world outside!

I realised one thing.. One has to have high authority and power to gain respect.. Who dares to push you ard, or be unreasonable and rude to you if you are in the highest office? A new promoter can suffer injustice from a receptionist.. A new manager will not.. Moral of the story: Climb to the top, and you'll have everyone licking ur boots..

I went back to my primary school with some classmates this afternoon to visit my favourite teacher, Mdm Lum.. =) Chatted for 2 hrs in the canteen.. And, Mdm Lum treated us to food, drinks and ice-cream! So kind of her.. It felt like Children's Day celebration again.. haha..

After that, i went for an interview for the position of a beauty promoter. The criteria for the position was: Rebonded hair.. Cyn informed me of the lobang yesterday.. Thanks dear, owe u a lil treat k! =) Anw, i got the job! Will be working at John Little at Specialist Shopping Centre for 2 weeks.. Think there'll be a booth (selling new haircare pdts for ppl with rebonded hair) set up beside the Famous Amos Cookies counter.. I'll be there, starting from this Mon! Those of u interested, can just pop by and visit me.. or have lunch with me yeah? hehe..

Oh, i've given up all hope of finding the nice purple heels from J West! =( Cos i've combed all the J West boutiques, J West counters in all OG, Seiyu and Isetan outlets all over S'pore and i still didn't find them.. =p

hahahahahahahhaha... happy! =)

Just when i thought i might just die of sian-ness in the midst of my boring days, something happy happened today.. I STRUCK 4D AGAIN!! =) hahahaha.. 2308, starters, $250.. I'm really quite pleased to have a lil extra earnings when i can't get a job.. =p

Come to think of it, i think there were signs that i would strike today..

1) When i went to buy 4D at Bishan S'pore Pools outlet before going to the gym alone today, i was thinking to myself, "I've not been here for very long.. Even the signboard has changed.. Maybe i'll strike tonight.." hahahaha.. I REALLY STRUCK!!

2) I had a tuition session with Teng Heng in the evening.. His mum brought 6 sets of English past year test papers. I realised that all the papers had the date 23/08/2004 printed on them. I even highlighted my discovery to TH.. hahahaha.. THE NUMBER 2308 REALLY CAME OUT!!

Audrey just called to ask if i struck 4D.. cos she knew i bought 2308.. her IC number also ends with 2308, something which i realised a few weeks ago when i was looking at her driving licence.. i told her then that the number will come out.. hahahaha..

YAY! I'm feeling lucky now! =D

She said she had to treat her gd pal - ME! hehe so nice.. And, she promised me a spa treat at Mary Chia on my birthday leh... Woohoo!! Looking forward to it.. Now that i recorded it down, she can't pretend to forget it then.. hahaha.. Aud is so sweet to me wor! Thanks! =)

After aud left, i went all around town alone to search for a pair of great-looking heels.. Wisma to Taka to Paragon to Taka again.. Finally saw something that i really really like, but there's no more size for me.. =( I think i'll dream of that $69.90 pair of purple heels tonight.. SAD!!
